Welcome to something new. altSpirit.
Many of us get caught in continuing to do what we have always done, whether it is at work, with our friends and family, or in our interactions with the world at large. We become focused on solving the problems that come up and feel like most of what we are doing is reacting. We would like to find more meaning in what we are doing, or to try to do some new things entirely. How can we allow ourselves to explore different possibilities, ones that might allow us to begin living into a new dream of our future?
altSpirit believes that one answer to this is to join with other people, to build our explorations on the very best of our past experiences, to make time to intentionally talk through our ideas and our longings with our group, and finally to try some things and then imagine again. The result of this is not necessarily a life that looks, externally, very different. The result is that we are intentional about the choices we make, and the choices are aligned with the core of what we dream about.
So in a spiritual group, one person might choose to spend a little more time outside because that is what helps her feel connected to the universe. Another might spend one minute breathing at the start of each work day, and take intentional breaths throughout the day, because that helps connect him to his spirit in the midst of work. Yet another may choose to quit his job entirely and devote all his time to volunteering. And another might... well, the possibilities are only limited by the dreams of the group members. And all are supporting each other and doing very hard work.
In an economics group, some of the members may join together to invest some of their money in a local person who is starting a small business. Others may choose to only buy locally grown produce, or only to buy from locally-owned businesses. Others may change how they invest. Others may choose to buy less. Again, the possibilities are only limited by the dreams of the group members.
We at altSpirit are excited to see how the materials we produce will help guide these groups and give them support. More to come...
