Peter Baumhefner is a board member of altSpirit.  He is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where he majored in liberal arts.  Peter is a transportation industry expert and worked for various companies in the transportation and logistics industry for nearly 45 years.  In his retirement, Peter is very active in forming and leading a “Circle of Caring Investors”, a small group of local, like-minded community members interested in alternative investing and helping those in the community who might not otherwise have access to financial resources.  In addition, Peter gives back to his community as a Senior Volunteer for the California Highway Patrol.
 
Janet Katari is a contributor and president of the board of altSpirit.  She is a graduate of Harvard College and U.C. Berkeley, where she earned a Ph.D. in chemistry. She started her career as a consultant at Bain and Company.  More recently, she worked as a Director of Youth and Family Ministries for a mid-sized suburban church, where she created progressive education programs for youth and families.  She currently serves on the board of the Diablo Symphony, focusing on youth outreach programs and member maintenance.
 
Michelle Self is the treasurer and a board member of altSpirit.  She is a graduate of U.C. Berkeley, where she received her B.S. in Civil Engineering.  A licensed civil engineer and general contractor, Michelle is co-founder and president of CAD Masters, which has provided software, hardware, training and consulting services to clients for 20 years.  Michelle has experience in all aspects of building a business and using technology to provide training. In addition, she has served as president of the Council of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Lafayette, CA and as a Girl Scout troop leader.
 
Dan Senter is a contributor and board member of altSpirit.  He is a graduate of U.C. Santa Cruz and the Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary. He works as a pastor of a mid-sized suburban church, and serves on the boards of PC.org, which provides support for progressive Christian churches and individuals, and The Urban Farmers, which works on local food justice issues.  He also serves as cohort lead with Criterion ventures, exploring church as an economic being and the intersection of money and meaning.
 
Dave Thompson is a contributor to altSpirit. He has spent the last fifteen years working on social justice issues in the areas of education, economic development and entrepreneurship, both in the U.S. and internationally. After a number of years managing programs and organizations in the nonprofit sector, Dave recently launched a socially responsible coffee roasting company, Epic Coffee, where he is working to bring ethical intention and purpose into business practice.
